Abstract:
The key to high-performance wireless networks design is managing the interference that users create to each other. This work proposes strategies for relaying and interference management in wireless networks with multiple source-destination pairs. We show capacity gains from joint encoding and forwarding of messages intended for different users.

Moreover, we present a relaying strategy that, in addition to message forwarding, performs interference forwarding. In this strategy, the relay magnifies interference at an intended receiver to facilitate interference cancellation. We show that interference forwarding brings performance gains and, together with joint message forwarding, achieves capacity in certain scenarios. These results offer insights into design of wireless networks and suggest that, in addition to relaying messages, interference forwarding can be employed to help in combating interference.

Bio:
Ivana Maric received her B.S. degree from the University of Novi Sad, Serbia. She finished her M.S and Ph.D. in the Wireless Network Information Laboratory (WINLAB), Rutgers University in 2000 and 2006, respectively. She is currently a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University. Her research focuses on network information theory and wireless communications.
