"The Stanford Resident (Reason-Syndicate-Identify) Project: Toward Knowledge-Driven Medical Genomics"

Abstract:

This project initiates a far-reaching, comprehensive effort to map the social genome. Whereas it was once impossible to obtain detailed, large-scale data on human behavior, such rich digital traces of human activity are now available, on the Web, in wearable sensors, and in other networked devices. This vast record of human actions and interactions is matched by powerful new methods in social network analysis, natural language processing, and information retrieval. We are on the verge of a leap forward in our scientific understanding of individual identities, social ties, community structures, and the fabric of society itself.
