Data changes daily. It continues to get bigger, messier, and more complicated at an unprecedented rate. Meanwhile, demands grow for faster higher quality results with unexpected needs for scalability. This is a dynamic problem with a need for real time solutions.

In comes the crowd. With the power of the crowd, data becomes more accurate, scalable, and can be continually updated, checked, verified and generated when certain data is missing. With access to a worldwide virtual workforce, mobile social media creates one of many channels for getting this work done. Anyone with Internet access and a few minutes to spare is now a potential worker. Be it gaming or real dollars, mobile connects work to workers anywhere around the world at any given time.

In this talk, Chris van Pelt will present the basic understanding of crowdsourcing and microtask models, talk about the impact mobile and social is having on this model, and talk about the potential this has for the future of work.

Chris van Pelt is a studio artist, computer scientist, Web engineer, and CrowdFlower co-founder, Chris pours his diverse background into his role as Chief Technology Officer (though he prefers Chief Awesome Officer).
